Our focus
is detailed Design and full Project Management, to allow owners and decision makers to move ahead with the best information. We develop and manage change to enhance long-term function, value, and appearance in socially responsible ways, transforming ordinary sites into extraordinary settings. Our purpose is to create trusting, beneficial partnerships, working collaboratively with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver high value and cost effective service.
Our Clientsappreciate the direct involvement by a firm Principal in each project. We work with people motivated to achieve high quality and distinctive results, whether creating a public park, improving a residential property, or collaborating on a large mixed-use development. Our whole-project perspective integrates and informs the work of surveyors, engineers, and building architects for a truly collaborative process and comprehensive results, adding meaning, fresh originality, and a finer level of aesthetic and technical completion to every setting.
Sustainabilityinforms every aspect of our work. Are materials locally sourced? Is existing infrastructure not adversely affected? Are invasive or dangerous species avoided? Is surface water runoff fully utilized? Is construction phased to integrate use of resources? Can these and a panoply of other criteria be verified and substantiated for their actual value? The answer can be Yes. Sustainability has been an integral part of Landscape architects' lexicon and practice since the profession was first established in 1899.
DBLA was responsible for site planning, design, and related permitting for Small Friends School on Nantucket, a LEED Certified Gold project, and for a new home for the Nantucket Housing Authority which will receive LEED Silver Certification.
